BNMRZ (Bayerisches NMR-Zentrum)

BNMRZ uses solution and solid-state NMR focusing on structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules and structure-based drug discovery.

The Bavarian NMR Center (BNMRZ) is a joint research infrastructure of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Helmholtz Center Munich (HMGU), with locations both at the TUM School of Natural Sciences / Department of Bioscience and the HMGU campus.

Research at BNMRZ focuses on the development and application of advanced NMR methods for studying the structure, dynamics and molecular interactions of biological macromolecules, computational approaches for integrative structural biology, structured-based drug discovery, pulse sequence and methods development for solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging. The groups in the BNMRZ investigate large proteins complexes (chaperones), membrane proteins, protein-RNA complexes and amyloid fibrils.

BNMRZ was founded in 2001 by TU Munich and in 2006 became a joint research infrastructure center of TU Munich and Helmholtz Center Munich, with locations both at the TUM Science Campus in Garching and the HMGU campus in Neuherberg. It became a member of Instruct Germany in 2025.

We are offering solution and solid-state NMR services at high fields, mainly for biological macromolecules. In addition, we can provide access to NMR-based fragment screening.
