The Center for Microscopy and Image Analysis at the University of Zurich offers scientists a wide range of light and electron microscopy methods, mainly in life science. They support users in the field of microscopy, maintain and operate state-of-the-art and complex microscopes, establish new techniques and work closely with research groups. They offer practical courses and lectures to students and researchers.

Your responsibilities

• Responsible for a cryo transmission and cryo focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (Thermo Fisher Titan Krios G3i and Zeiss Auriga 40 Crossbeam)
• Responsible for cryo electron microscopy and related applications including sample preparation, data processing
• Defining optimal workflow strategies in collaboration with users
• Training of and support for users
• Teaching in lectures and courses
• Collaboration in research projects

Your profile

• Background in biological research, such as cell or molecular biology.
• PHD is required and post doc experience is an advantage.
• Expertise in cryo electron microscopy applications (mainly single particle imaging).
• Additional experience in tilt-tomography, negative staining and focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy are considered as a plus.
• Strong motivation to support and train users with a problem solving mindset.
