Our mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer.
The UK Structural & Biophysical Sciences group is a multi-disciplinary department within GSK R&D that provides molecular insights into drug discovery for both small molecule and biopharmaceutical programs. We are founding members of the Cambridge Pharmaceutical cryo-EM consortium with access to two state-of-the-art ThermoFisher maintained Krios systems. In house we have a recently installed Glacios, Leica and Vitrobot sample preparation stations and high performance computing infrastructure at our disposal.
We are currently expanding our cryo-EM capability and have an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist with exceptional expertise in single particle processing and reconstruction to join our group. A detailed knowledge of a range of state-of-the-art software and a talent for developing and adapting processes to deliver high resolution structures will be expected. A desire to remain current in a rapidly moving area with a passion for driving the development of efficient workflows to deliver impact project outcomes will be your hallmark.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The individual will have a leading role in the development and implementation of algorithms and methods to optimise and improve our current cryo-EM workflows to deliver structures of proteins within and outside the cellular context.
- This includes automation and implementation of efficient approaches for image processing, 3D reconstruction and model building and analysis.
- As part of an integrated team you will also have the opportunity to directly support program teams and contribute to the  wider protein structural and biophysical area.
