The IST Austria Electron Microscopy facility are looking for a full time (40h/w) Cryo-EM Specialis in Klosterneuburg (Vienna), Austria
Responsibilities:
The IST Austria Electron Microscopy facility supports the vibrant international scientific community at the institute, with state-of-the-art cryo-EM infrastructure, covering single-particle analysis, ion-beam milling and cryo-electron tomography workflows. To strengthen their team, they are looking for a highly motivated person who will support EM facility users in cryo-EM related tasks in a challenging international environment.
- Operating and maintenance of cryo-EM equipment
- Monitoring of systems, regular system check including systems alignment
- Training, assistance, on-site support and supervision of users
- Monitoring of compliance with rules
- Active contribution to the development of the EM facility
Profile:
- Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Physics and/or proven high-end cryo-EM hands-on experience
- Practical experience in the following cryo-EM application areas: sample preparation, electron tomography and SPA data collection, cryo-EM data processing
- Strong computational skills, with a specific focus on cryo-EM related SW for data collection and processing
- Experience with cryo-CLEM and cryo-FIB is an advantage
- Excellent team player that can also work independently
- High degree of reliability, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Service oriented approach towards researches in a multidisciplinary environment
- Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills in English
