The Furukawa lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) has a postdoctoral fellow position opening for a scientist with a strong background in structural biology and biochemistry. We work on ion channels and membrane protein complexes involved in the neurobiology of learning/memory, neurological disease/disorder, and neuron-cancer interfaces. We implement cryo-EM, x-ray crystallography, electrophysiology, protein engineering, and cellular imaging to address the above questions.
CSHL is equipped with a Titan-KRIOS electron microscope/K3 direct electron detector and has convenient access to the NSLS-II synchrotron beamlines (AMX and FMX). CSHL has solid core facilities including antibody production, neuro/cancer imaging, CRISPR/RNAi, animal, etc. We offer a unique training environment for research and career development. In addition, the CSHL Meetings and Courses program provides an opportunity for interacting with a broad range of researchers.
For this search, we prioritize scientists with strong backgrounds in cryo-EM, x-ray crystallography, and/or biochemistry. Experience in structural analysis is desired but not required. A qualified applicant should hold a Ph.D. or expect to hold a Ph.D. within or around 1 yr in the area of biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, etc.
Please send a CV and a cover letter briefly describing current research and future research interests in our lab directly to Hiro Furukawa at furukawa@cshl.edu.
