A postdoctoral position is available in Park Lab at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California.
Their lab is interested in understanding the structural basis of bacteriophage–bacteria interactions, with the long-term goal of informing rational strategies to target bacterial pathogens, including Mycobacterium species. They use cutting-edge cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) to visualize phage infection processes directly in cells and connect in situ structures to biological function.
Park Lab are seeking highly motivated candidates with prior experience in electron microscopy and/or other structural biology methods. Experience in single-particle analysis, cryo-ET, image processing, model building, or integrative structural approaches is particularly welcome, though strong quantitative or computational backgrounds with an interest in learning cryo-EM/ET are also encouraged to apply.
Scripps Research offers a vibrant, highly collaborative scientific environment and houses state-of-the-art instrumentation supporting all aspects of modern electron microscopy, including single-particle cryo-EM, cryo-ET, cryo-FIB milling, and cryo-CLEM. The institute is located in San Diego, providing an outstanding quality of life with year-round mild weather and access to diverse outdoor activities.
Interested candidates should contact Raphael Park directly with a CV and a brief description of their research interests. Informal inquiries are very welcome.
