Postdoc position in cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography

University of Kent, United Kingdom
Application deadline: 17 May 2026

We have an exciting postdoctoral position available in the PAL Lab at the University of Kent, funded by the British Heart Foundation. Following the recent recruitment of a cell biologist on this grant, we are now seeking a structural biologist to complement our in vivo work.

This project focuses on the structure and function of multi-protein complexes involved in congenital heart defects. The work will employ structural biology techniques such as single-particle cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography. Experience in cryo-EM is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with a cell biology PDRA to test hypotheses generated from the structural biology work.

The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative national and international network. We have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a 120 keV electron microscope at Kent. For high-end data collection using Krios, we have access to eBIC at Diamond Light Source, as well as facilities at the University of Leicester and the University of Leeds.

Candidates nearing completion of a relevant PhD are encouraged to apply.
